Old villa with history
This old Villa is not just any old villa. It was built in 1866 at Rakahouka by one Thomas Fleming senior. His son, also named Thomas went on to build the Fleming Flourmill(Flemings Ceamota) plant at Gore. Thomas Fleming passed away in Timaru in 1930.

Ken also lives at the Rakahouka Bush close to the Fleming house. This is Ken beside the old stables. By being upkepted these old structures are still remaining as they were when built over a hundred years ago.

Ken Hargest at home on his property, a walking history book. Kens father James bought the property some time after 1919. James Hargest after whom the Invercargill school was named, was a farmer, military leader and politician.

Where the shearing was done. With work being done to keep it as it was it could be there for many years yet. It was also the site of the anniversary of 1889. People came by coach from Invercargill and around for the all day picnic and dance at night.
