A very threatening cloud system above Milford Sound. Looking west to the mouth of Milford. Sometimes in these weather systems winds can gust to over 100 knots.

Late spring or early summer these wilding lupens grow in the river flats of the Eglington Valley in all colours. These are head high and a must do picture stop.

The Disappearing Falls. So named as they get blown upside down and disappear into the sky during very strong winds. These falls can be found on the north side of the fiord a short distance west of the seal rocks.

Stirling Falls, on the north side of Milford Sound. Height 156m. One of only three permanent waterfalls, others dry up surprisingly.

Bottlenose dolphins love riding the bow wave of the tourist boats in Milford. They are present somewhere in the fiord most days.

This photo was taken from Deep Water Basin in Milford Sound looking south to the Arthur Valley and the end of the Milford track. The low ridge in the distance is the hardest part of the track, the Mackinnon Pass.

The Bowen falls in full flight. This photo was taken in the early stages of what became known as the Queenstown floods. Milford had some 1000mm of rain in three days.
